Naruto Uzumaki is the main protagonist in the popular manga and anime series Naruto. He is a cheerful, hyperactive, strong-willed, and occasionally simple-minded young shinobi from the village of Konoha (or Leaf Village).
Naruto is generally a very simple minded, easy going, cheerful person. He often rushes things, and misses obvious things such as Hinata's constant shyness around him.
In the beginning of the series, Naruto is very fun loving, often pulling pranks on fellow villagers. This usually ends in a scolding from Iruka Umino. Naruto later reveals he did these pranks because he liked the attention, as he grew up with no parents or friends. He's also very beginning when he's young, despite being largely unskilled in comparison to his peers.
As the series progresses and Naruto gets older, he eventually starts to become more serious and wises up.
As a Jinchūriki bearing the Nine Tailed Fox, Kurama, Naruto was often jeered at and avoided by most villagers. Because of this, Naruto was largely alone in the early parts of his life, and would often seek out attention by pulling pranks. This would become Naruto's main reason want to become Hokage, so everyone in the village would acknowledge and respect him. Eventually, Naruto's actions towards saving the village (And even the whole world) lead to many villagers respecting and even admiring him. In the movie, Naruto: The Last, Naruto has fans who come from all different villages just to see him.
Naruto has a strong dedication to his friends, often willing to put his life on the line to protect them. Despite his treachery towards the Hidden Leaf Village, Naruto has always considered childhood rival Sasuke Uchiha to be his best friend. In the end of the series, Naruto reveals that he cared for Sasuke so much because he felt they knew the same pain of being alone, and he constantly would chase after him because Naruto did not want to see him hurt when there is no need to.
As Hokage, Naruto seems to have grown even more mature. When Boruto was pulling pranks, Naruto knew this was because he didn't have a father figure, and spent time with him. This shows that Naruto cares deeply for his children.
Powers and abilities
Initially, Naruto is largely unskilled in all types of jutsu, especially in comparison to his peers. His failure of the cloning technique led him to eventually learning the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which is considered to be a Jonin level technique. This move is one of his signature moves, and one he uses commonly through the whole series.
Minato Namikaze, Naruto's father, was one of the most talented and prodigious ninja in the history of the Hidden Leaf, immortalized in Konoha as the Fourth Hokage. He was known as "Konoha's Yellow Flash" due to his unmatched speed in combat, using his signature Flying Raijin technique that allowed him to teleport instantaneously to places marked with his seal. Minato became globally renowned and feared during the Third Shinobi World War, demonstrating such deadly skill and abilities that other nations instituted a "flee on sight" rule for their shinobi if Minato was seen on the battlefield.
Kushina Uzumaki was Naruto's mother and the former Nine-Tails jinchuriki. Though her son took after his dad in terms of physical appearance, Naruto's brash personality was more reminiscent of Kushina's. During her time at the academy, Kushina was teased for her bright red hair and, after beating up her bullies, earned the nickname "The Red-Hot Habanero." Kushina was first brought to Konoha to continue the tradition of an Uzumaki becoming the jinchuriki to the Nine-Tailed Fox, an immeasurably powerful tailed beast that had been kept in the Hidden Leaf for generations. While her early years in the village were isolating, she eventually became a true Hidden Leaf ninja, falling in love with Minato and leading a happy life until tragedy struck.Hinata Hyūga is the former heiress to the famous Hyūga clan who eventually married her childhood crush, Naruto Uzumaki. Even from their early days in the academy, Hinata fostered a deep, almost debilitating, crush on Naruto. Though Naruto was oblivious to her romantic intentions, he was always kind and cared about the shy girl.
Boruto Uzumaki is the elder of Naruto and Hinata's two children and the protagonist of the sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Having come from a very different background than his father, Boruto has as many contrasting traits with Naruto as he does similar ones. The two are both energetic, loud, and eager, but Boruto starts his journey off with far more confidence and technical ability than his dad. Also, while Naruto always yearned for the position of Hokage, Boruto never shared that fondness due to his feelings of neglect, as Naruto was often away dealing with village matters. Boruto becomes inspired by Sasuke Uchiha's noble yet discreet protection of Konoha, choosing to follow in his footsteps to become a shadowy protector of the village, rather than its figurehead leader.

Himawari Uzumaki is the youngest child of Naruto and Hinata, still young and carefree for many of her appearances. Though she is mostly cheerful and kind, Himawari has also shown a capacity to become more aggressive when provoked into a temper. This leads to some moments that are simultaneously hilarious and terrifying, as Himawari has also awakened the Byakugan, a special eye technique of the Hyūga clan that makes her unexpectedly fierce for her age.
